On August 12th, EdTechTeacher is bringing educators from across the DMV together for a full day of honest, practical conversation about exactly that.
What the AI in Edu Summit DMV is
The AI in Edu Summit DMV is a one-day, educator-focused conference at Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland. Twenty-four sessions across four time slots. Hands-on design cohorts in the afternoon. A demo-slam to close the day. Breakfast and lunch included.
This is not a vendor expo. It is a room full of educators working through the same questions you are, led by practitioners who have been in classrooms and schools navigating this alongside their students.
What you will walk away with
The summit is organized around six themes that reflect what teachers and school leaders are actually grappling with right now:
- Student use of AI for learning: What does it look like when students use AI as a thinking partner rather than an answer machine?
- AI for creativity and problem solving: How do we keep creative, inquiry-driven work meaningful when AI can produce a first draft in seconds?
- AI and ethics: What are our responsibilities to students when it comes to data, bias, and transparency?
- AI for professional learning: How can AI help educators save time, reflect on practice, and grow as professionals?
- AI tools for educators: Which tools are worth your attention, and how do you actually use them in a school context?
- Assessment in the age of AI: How do we know what students know when the traditional measures no longer hold?
You will not leave with a list of tools. You will leave with frameworks, strategies, and a network of colleagues in your region who are doing this work alongside you.
The people in the room
Holton-Arms School is both the venue and a contributing partner. Lucia Hassell-Lee and Troy Gordon, educational technology leaders from Holton-Arms, are among the featured speakers. They bring the perspective of educators who have been implementing AI guidance inside an actual school, with actual students, this year.
EdTechTeacher CEO Tom Driscoll will welcome attendees and help frame the day’s work while also facilitating multiple workshop sessions.
And across the 24 sessions, you will hear from educators, researchers, and practitioners who share one thing in common: they have done this work in schools, not just written about it.
